Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Thomas Moran achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November last year. In the The Collection of G. Andrew Bjurman auction, the work Hance's Canyon paper 9 1/2 x 12 1/2 in. framed 21 x 24 in. sold for USD 151,575.00 (€ 146,832.32) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Moran achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Green River of Wyoming in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 17,737,000.00 (€ 11,399,100.26).
