Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work The Capture of the 32-gun French frigate Amiable and the corvette Ceres after their encounter with Sir Samuel Hood in the Barfleur, with the Valiant and the Magnificent in the Mona Passage, 19 April 1782 by Thomas Elliott. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 7,650.00 (€ 9,063.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Elliott achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A panorama of Portsmouth harbour, with a flagship of the Red Squadron making sail as she departs in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 97,090.00 (€ 145,670.76).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Capture of the 32-gun French frigate Amiable and the corvette Ceres after their encounter with Sir Samuel Hood in the Barfleur, with the Valiant and the Magnificent in the Mona Passage, 19 April 1782 von Thomas Elliott zur Versteigerung kam. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A panorama of Portsmouth harbour, with a flagship of the Red Squadron making sail as she departs im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 97.090,00 (€ 145.670,76).
