Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A patinated bust of a gentleman, possibly Sir Henry Harban (British, 1823-1911) by Thomas Brock was auctioned at Bonhams in London in February 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 255.00 (€ 294.09). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Brock achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Eve in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 66,974.40).
