Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2008 Sothebys in Amsterdam held the auction 19th Century European Paintings, which included the work Belgian Portrait Of An Antwerp Patriot (Symbol Of The Battle Of Turnhout) by Theophile Lybaert. The price achieved of EUR 5,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Theophile Lybaert - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Souvenirs D'Autrefois, which sold at auction in May 2019 for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,332.94).
