This artwork by Théophile Auguste Vauchelet achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in June 2009. In the Old Master & 19th Century European Art auction, the work Jacob Refusing To Send Benjamin Away sold for USD 13,750.00 (€ 9,807.42) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Théophile Auguste Vauchelet; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Jacob Refusing To Send Benjamin Away sold at auction in January 2008 with the realized price of USD 17,500.00 (€ 11,791.66).
