Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work French Desdemone Se Couchant (Desdemona) by Théodore Chassériau for GBP 133,250.00 (€ 161,109.26). This price was achieved in the auction European Paintings including The Orientalist Sale, Symbolism and the Poetic Vision and Spanish Painting at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Théodore Chassériau - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Diane Surprise Par Actéon, which sold at auction in June 2006 for EUR 538,400.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November 2008 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit French Desdemone Se Couchant (Desdemona) von Théodore Chassériau für GBP 133.250,00 (€ 161.109,26) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion European Paintings including The Orientalist Sale, Symbolism and the Poetic Vision and Spanish Painting bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 250.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Théodore Chassériau mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Diane Surprise Par Actéon beobachtet, die im Juni 2006 für EUR 538.400,00 versteigert wurde.
