Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of USD 237,500.00 (€ 216,026.92) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Théodore Chassériau - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Diane Surprise Par Actéon, which sold at auction in June 2006 for EUR 538,400.00.
