In December 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Figures In A Mountainous River Landscape With Cattle, Goats And Sheep; Figures In A Mountainous River Landscape With Horses And Carts by Théobald Michau. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 100,000.00 (€ 116,916.22), 67% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Théobald Michau; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Travellers And Their Herds Departing From A Village; Travellers Unpacking Their Carts And Entering A Village sold at auction in July 2014 with the realized price of GBP 158,500.00 (€ 199,918.33).
