Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of A Mallard; Together With A Portrait Of A Quail by Christopher Atkinson was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,428.18). Admittedly, works by Christopher Atkinson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Three Portraits Of Owls in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,855.09).
