In November 2018 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) Including a Selection of Japanese Woodblock Prints from Private Collections, which included the work Calligraphy Lesson by Thang Tran Phenh. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 137,500.00 (€ 15,519.30), 72% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Thang Tran Phenh have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Scenes Of Old Vietnam in November 2015 with an auction result of HKD 625,000.00 (€ 76,334.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 72 % übertroffen
Im November 2018 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) Including a Selection of Japanese Woodblock Prints from Private Collections durch, in der auch die Arbeit Calligraphy Lesson von Thang Tran Phenh zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 137.500,00 (€ 15.519,30) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thang Tran Phenh auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Scenes Of Old Vietnam im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 625.000,00 (€ 76.334,97).
