This price was achieved in the auction Modern Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy at China Guardian in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 50,000.00 many times over. This high result makes Buddha the most expensive artwork by Sun Zongwei that we have observed at auctions so far.
