Auction result misses estimated price range

In September 2011 a collector was able to acquire the work A gentleman seated at a card table by Stephen Lewin for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,356.46). This price was achieved in the auction The Cowdray Sale: Works of Art from Cowdray Park and Dunecht House,At Cowdray Park, West Sussex at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Stephen Lewin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Politicians, which sold at auction in November 2010 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,962.49).

Im September 2011 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A gentleman seated at a card table von Stephen Lewin für GBP 3.750,00 (€ 4.356,46) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The Cowdray Sale: Works of Art from Cowdray Park and Dunecht House,At Cowdray Park, West Sussex bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Stephen Lewin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Politicians beobachtet, die im November 2010 für GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.962,49) versteigert wurde.
