Sir Denys Lasdun (1914-2001) was an eminent English architect, celebrated for his commitment to Modernist ideals and his contribution to the British urban landscape. Having started his career at Wells Coates’ practice, he would go on to build 32 Newton Road, a house in Paddington which strictly followed Le Corbusier’s domino principle, and would later become Ronald Searle’s residence. Lasdun’s social commitment was demonstrated in commissions for Hallfield Primary School, cluster blocks

The work Abstract in Colours by Stefan Knapp was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2017. It achieved a price of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,702.72), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 50%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Stefan Knapp; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Figure sold at auction in November 2017 with the realized price of GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,412.19).

Die Arbeit Abstract in Colours von Stefan Knapp kam im November 2017 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.702,72) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 50%. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Stefan Knapp; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Figure im November 2017 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 2.125,00 (€ 2.412,19).
