This artwork by Spyridon Scarvelli achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2007. In the The Greek Sale auction, the work Mon Repos And The Citadel, Corfu - Two Views sold for GBP 15,600.00 (€ 22,956.46) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Spyridon Scarvelli; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Piraeus sold at auction in May 2007 with the realized price of GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,488.22).
