In September 2012 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art Including Orientalist Art, which included the work A bustling Cairo street by Spyridon Scarvelli. The result of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,509.65) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Spyridon Scarvelli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Piraeus in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,488.22).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im September 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion 19th Century European Art Including Orientalist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A bustling Cairo street von Spyridon Scarvelli zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 2.000,00 (€ 2.509,65) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 4.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Spyridon Scarvelli erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Piraeus im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.000,00 (€ 26.488,22).
