A top price for Sophie Frémiet Rude - as previously expected
In January last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings & Sculpture Part I, which included the work The death of Cenchirias, son of Neptune and the nymph Peirene by Sophie Frémiet Rude. It changed hands for a price of USD 685,500.00 (€ 611,398.50) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The death of Cenchirias, son of Neptune and the nymph Peirene is the most expensive artwork by Sophie Frémiet Rude that we have observed at auctions so far.
