A top price for Philip William Burne-Jones - as previously expected
In November 2005 Christies in London held the auction VICTORIAN & TRADITIONALIST PICTURES, which included the work Portrait of Irene Spencer by Philip William Burne-Jones. The price achieved of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,814.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Portrait of Irene Spencer is the most expensive artwork by Philip William Burne-Jones that we have observed at auctions so far.
