Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Bruce And The Spider by Joseph Noel Paton was sold in the Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures auction at Christies in London in June 2007. It changed hands for a price of GBP 16,800.00 (€ 24,930.36) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph Noel Paton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mors Janua Vitae (Death the Gateway to Life) So wounded and weary from the conflict, he rose and followed the beckoning Shadow. His steps were feeble by reason of his sore hurts; but his heart quailed not, for he knew that ere now his Lord had trodd, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 45,410.00 (€ 65,186.
