Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Bust of Robert Burns by John Robert Steell was sold in the The Neil Wilson Collection: A Romantic Vision auction at Christies in London in September 2014. The price achieved of GBP 562.50 (€ 722.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Robert Steell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Marble Bust Of Tsar Alexander I Of Russia in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 25,746.63).
