Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2003 Christies in Sydney held the auction THE CONTENTS OF BRONTE HOUSE, which included the work The Last Embrace Of Bishops Ridley And Latimer At Oxford 1555. The True Heroes Of Our Liberty Religious And Civil 1854 by George Hayter. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 4,465.00 (€ 2,665.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Hayter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Charlotte, Countess de la Bourdonnaye (1795-1875), Full-Length, In A Green Dress, Seated On A Day Bed On A Terrace, A Dog On Her Lap, Before A Draped Curtain, With An Extensive Landscape Beyond in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 46,800.00 (€ 69,360.56).

The True Heroes Of Our Liberty Religious And Civil 1854 von George Hayter zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 4.465,00 (€ 2.665,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
