Auction result well in line with expectations
In July last year Sothebys in London held the auction European & British Art, Part I, which included the work The Visit by George Clausen. The price achieved of GBP 315,000.00 (€ 376,165.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Clausen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Gleaners, which sold at auction in November 2004 for GBP 710,850.00 (€ 1,022,553.89).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion European & British Art, Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Visit von George Clausen zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 315.000,00 (€ 376.165,95) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von George Clausen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Gleaners beobachtet, die im November 2004 für GBP 710.850,00 (€ 1.022.553,89) versteigert wurde.
