Sold at the lower estimate price
The work The hills from Avignon by Charles John Holmes was sold in the British, Continental & Russian Pictures auction at Christies in London in October 2007. The result of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,436.07) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles John Holmes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Harter Fell, which sold at auction in September 2002 for GBP 2,115.00 (€ 3,361.22).
