Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Bonhams in Sydney held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Notes for Oedipus, 1975 by Sidney Nolan. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 17,220.00 (€ 10,441.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sidney Nolan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gully (Ned Kelly) in December 2007 with an auction result of GBP 264,500.00 (€ 359,410.63).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in Sydney die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Notes for Oedipus, 1975 von Sidney Nolan zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 17.220,00 (€ 10.441,24) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sidney Nolan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Gully (Ned Kelly) im Dezember 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 264.500,00 (€ 359.410,63).
