SHONA MCANDREW (B.1990) Jay initialed, dated and numbered '1/20 SMC 2020' in pencil lithograph in colors with hand-coloring in colored pencil, on watercolor paper Image: 16 x 12 in. (40.6 x 30.4 cm.) Sheet: 21 1 ⁄ 4 x 17 in. (53.9 x 43.1 cm.) Executed in 2021. This work is number 1 from the edition of 20 (there were also three artist's proofs). Co-Published by Art + Culture Projects and Art Omi, New York and Ghent to benefit the artist's solo exhibition 'Just the three of us', May 29 - August 29, 2021.
Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Shona McAndrew could be acquired at Christies in New York in July last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Trespassing auction, the work Jay changed hands for USD 378.00 (€ 370.52) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shona McAndrew achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Jade in May this year with an auction result of USD 23,940.00 (€ 22,470.43).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Shona McAndrew konnte im Juli letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Trespassing wechselte die Arbeit Jay für USD 378,00 (€ 370,52) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Shona McAndrew erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Jade im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.940,00 (€ 22.470,43).
