A top price for Shoko Maemoto - as previously expected
The work The Story of HOUJU by Shoko Maemoto was sold in the Through a Collector's Eye: The Kenzo Kagami Collection of Postwar Japanese Art auction at Christies in London in October 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 37,500.00 (€ 41,776.14) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Story of HOUJU is the most expensive artwork by Shoko Maemoto that we have observed at auctions so far.
