Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Bole and the Fine-bred Horse by Shan Baiqin was auctioned at Bonhams in Hong Kong in October 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 4,845.00 (€ 538.94). Other works by Shan Baiqin have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May last year by the work Figures at HKD 8,400.00 (€ 997.26).
