Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dragon in Clouds by Sesson Shūkei was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Bonhams in New York in September last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 20,400.00 (€ 20,852.50) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Sesson Shūkei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work One-petal Kannon (The Bodhisattva Kannon Crossing the Seat on a Lotus Petal) in September 2020 with an auction result of USD 118,750.00 (€ 101,339.82).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Dragon in Clouds von Sesson Shūkei wurde im September letzten Jahres in der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art bei Bonhams in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 20.400,00 (€ 20.852,50) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sesson Shūkei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit One-petal Kannon (The Bodhisattva Kannon Crossing the Seat on a Lotus Petal) im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 118.750,00 (€ 101.339,82).
