Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Boundless Space… The Possibilities of Burning Man, which included the work Boy with Mask by Sean Mellyn. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,008.00 (€ 872.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Sean Mellyn have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in June 2008 the work Two Girls in Bags was auctioned for USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,270.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Boundless Space… The Possibilities of Burning Man durch, in der auch die Arbeit Boy with Mask von Sean Mellyn zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.008,00 (€ 872,58) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Andere Arbeiten von Sean Mellyn konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Juni 2008 die Arbeit Two Girls in Bags für USD 2.000,00 (€ 1.270,00) versteigert.
