Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Samuel Lover could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2010 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Glass, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction, the work Unknown changed hands for GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,344.37) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Lover achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sir John Everett Millais, P.R.A. (1829-1896), In Coat And Waistcoat, Black Cravat, Curling Dark Hair And Side-Whiskers in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 9,600.00 (€ 14,245.92).
