Auction result well in line with expectations
In February this year Christies in London held the auction An Opulent Aesthetic: An Important Private Collection from an English Country House, which included the work A spaniel on the divan by Samuel John Carter. The price achieved of GBP 2,772.00 (€ 3,161.84) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samuel John Carter - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A spaniel on the divan, which sold at auction in May 2007 for GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,710.35).
