Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Samuel Edmund Waller could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British & Irish Art auction, the work Courtship changed hands for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,938.60) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samuel Edmund Waller - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ordered to the Front, 1815, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 30,500.00 (€ 42,707.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Samuel Edmund Waller konnte im November 2012 bei Sothebys in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion British & Irish Art wechselte die Arbeit Courtship für GBP 13.750,00 (€ 16.938,60) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Samuel Edmund Waller mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Ordered to the Front, 1815 beobachtet, die im November 2007 für GBP 30.500,00 (€ 42.707,89) versteigert wurde.
