the hand-painted pencil, watercolour and gouache costume design featuring a showgirl in a short ruched purple dress, long purple evening gloves, purple necklace and matching headpiece, faintly signed by the artist to the bottom right corner, mounted, framed and glazed, sight 8 1/4in x 16 1/2in (21cm x 42cm)

Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2020 Bonhams in London held the auction The Murray's Cabaret Club Costume Design Archive, which included the work An original costume design for a Murray's Cabaret Club showgirl in a purple dress by Ronald Cobb. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 204.00 (€ 224.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Ronald Cobb have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An original hand-painted design for a menu at Murray's Cabaret Club in June 2020 with an auction result of GBP 956.25 (€ 1,053.14).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2020 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Murray's Cabaret Club Costume Design Archive durch, in der auch die Arbeit An original costume design for a Murray's Cabaret Club showgirl in a purple dress von Ronald Cobb zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 204,00 (€ 224,67) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ronald Cobb auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An original hand-painted design for a menu at Murray's Cabaret Club im Juni 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 956,25 (€ 1.053,14).
