In November 2007 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Master Pictures and Drawings, which included the work An extensive cave with soldiers holding prisoner by Rombout van Troyen. The result of EUR 5,000.00 was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of EUR 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Rombout van Troyen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work King Ahaz Sacrifices His Son To Moloch in May 2019 with an auction result of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 22,638.80).

Im November 2007 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Old Master Pictures and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit An extensive cave with soldiers holding prisoner von Rombout van Troyen zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 5.000,00 entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rombout van Troyen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit King Ahaz Sacrifices His Son To Moloch im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.000,00 (€ 22.638,80).
