This artwork by Robert Thorne Waite achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in January 2007. In the The Lyndon Goodwin Harris Collection of Watercolours by Albert Goodwin, Joseph Edward Southall & Other Artists auction, the work Rounding up the rams (illustrated); Figures at a signpost before a windmill; and Droving the sheep sold for GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,172.63) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Thorne Waite - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Harvest time, which sold at auction in March 2003 for GBP 3,995.00 (€ 5,787.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 80 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Robert Thorne Waite erzielte im Januar 2007 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Lyndon Goodwin Harris Collection of Watercolours by Albert Goodwin, Joseph Edward Southall & Other Artists wurde die Arbeit Rounding up the rams (illustrated); Figures at a signpost before a windmill; and Droving the sheep für GBP 1.440,00 (€ 2.172,63) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 800,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Robert Thorne Waite mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Harvest time beobachtet, die im März 2003 für GBP 3.995,00 (€ 5.787,25) versteigert wurde.
