Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2006 Christies in London held the auction Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Silver and Plate and Icons, which included the work Unknown by Robert Thorburn. The price achieved of GBP 360.00 (€ 531.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Thorburn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mary Cornelia Edwards (1826-1906), 5th Marchioness of Londonderry, in black velvet jacket with pearl buttons, white lace collar and sleeves, black silk skirt, wearing a jewel-set black collar, gold bracelet and wedding band, resting against the back in May 2014 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,449.60).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Mary Cornelia Edwards (1826-1906), 5th Marchioness of Londonderry, in black velvet jacket with pearl buttons, white lace collar and sleeves, black silk skirt, wearing a jewel-set black collar, gold bracelet and wedding band, resting against the back im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 8.449,60).
