Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Designs for Wormleybury Manor, Hertfordshire (5, 1 illustrated; and Designs for a country house for Major Hamilton, near Glasgow (7) by Robert Mylne was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 375.00 (€ 448.25). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Mylne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Durham Park, Elevation And Cross-Section (9 Drawings And Design For Hog Styes) in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 10,250.00 (€ 9,462.70).
