Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Orchid, 1989 by Robert Mapplethorpe was sold in the ROBERT MAPPLETHORPE FLOWERS auction at Christies in New York in October 2005. It changed hands for a price of USD 19,200.00 (€ 16,006.67) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Mapplethorpe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self-Portrait in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 548,750.00 (€ 625,682.41).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Orchid, 1989 von Robert Mapplethorpe wurde im Oktober 2005 in der Auktion ROBERT MAPPLETHORPE FLOWERS bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 19.200,00 (€ 16.006,67) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Mapplethorpe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Self-Portrait im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 548.750,00 (€ 625.682,41).
