In March 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings and Drawings, which included the work Portrait of Captain Mildmay by Richard Dighton. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,008.00 (€ 858.38), 26% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard Dighton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fourteen potraits of gentleman including Captain Thomas Todd (illustrated) R.N., the Marquis of Lansdowne, Mr Balfour, Lord Langdale, Col. Roger Palmer, Major Groves, Mr Studd, Lord Cranworth, Lord St. Leonards, Hon. Mr Daly, Mr Capron and Mr Spooner, which sold at auction in March 2011 for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,404.43).

Im März 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Captain Mildmay von Richard Dighton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.008,00 (€ 858,38) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Richard Dighton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fourteen potraits of gentleman including Captain Thomas Todd (illustrated) R.N., the Marquis of Lansdowne, Mr Balfour, Lord Langdale, Col.
