Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Richard Blome achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2008. In the The Sporting Sale auction, the work Unknown sold for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,425.40) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Richard Blome; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Gentleman's Recreation: Ten Plates, from Sporting and Gameing [sic|AID916526] sold at auction in April 2002 with the realized price of USD 7,637.50 (€ 8,484.23).
