The work Le Puits de Verité by René Magritte was sold in the IMPRESSIONIST AND MODERN ART auction at Christies in London in April 2005. It achieved a price of GBP 50,400.00 (€ 74,599.33), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 44%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by René Magritte achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L’empire des lumières in March last year with an auction result of GBP 59,422,000.00 (€ 70,451,468.85).

Die Arbeit Le Puits de Verité von René Magritte wurde im April 2005 in der Auktion IMPRESSIONIST AND MODERN ART bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 50.400,00 (€ 74.599,33) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 44%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von René Magritte erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit L’empire des lumières im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 59.422.000,00 (€ 70.451.468,85).
