In September 2001 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction MARITIME PICTURES, MODELS AND EPHEMERA INCLUDING GLOBES, which included the work Barges and other shipping off the Dutch coast by Rein Miedema. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 1,527.50 70% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Rein Miedema; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot In still waters at dusk sold at auction in January 2003 with the realized price of GBP 1,292.50 (€ 1,979.61).

Im September 2001 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion MARITIME PICTURES, MODELS AND EPHEMERA INCLUDING GLOBES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Barges and other shipping off the Dutch coast von Rein Miedema zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 1.527,50 und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Rein Miedema; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit In still waters at dusk im Januar 2003 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 1.292,50 (€ 1.979,61).
