This artwork by Raphaelle Peale achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January this year. In the From Peale to Peto: American Masters from the Pollack Collection auction, the work Currants and Biscuits sold for USD 352,800.00 (€ 324,921.72) - well above the upper estimate of USD 180,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Raphaelle Peale - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life with Liqueur and Fruit, which sold at auction in December 2002 for USD 1,021,500.00 (€ 974,248.93).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Raphaelle Peale erzielte im Januar diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion From Peale to Peto: American Masters from the Pollack Collection wurde die Arbeit Currants and Biscuits für USD 352.800,00 (€ 324.921,72) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 180.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Raphaelle Peale mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Still Life with Liqueur and Fruit beobachtet, die im Dezember 2002 für USD 1.021.500,00 (€ 974.248,93) versteigert wurde.
