Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Journey of Hopes and Uncertainties-Darjeeling Train by Raghu Rai was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,773.51) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Raghu Rai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Late Hours at Parliament House, which sold at auction in September last year for USD 6,930.00 (€ 7,083.72).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A Journey of Hopes and Uncertainties-Darjeeling Train von Raghu Rai kam im September 2020 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.250,00 (€ 2.773,51) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Raghu Rai mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Late Hours at Parliament House beobachtet, die im September letzten Jahres für USD 6.930,00 (€ 7.083,72) versteigert wurde.
