Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Martyrdom of Saints Valerian, Tiburtius and Maximus (recto) by Pietro Sorri was sold in the Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours auction at Christies in London in December this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,410.00 (€ 5,080.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Pietro Sorri have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Virgin And Child With Saint Michael And Saint Catherine in March 2018 with an auction result of EUR 23,750.00.
