Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work A Stone Bust Portrait Of Erzherzog Leopold Wilhelm Of Austria(1614-1662), Surrounded By A Garland Of Flowers, Including Tulips, Roses, Snowballs, Morning Glory And Lilies by Pieter Thijs for GBP 7,680.00 (€ 11,398.08). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Paintings at Sothebys in Olympia and was even below the estimate range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter Thijs achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dædalus fixing wings onto the shoulders of Icarus in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 97,250.00 (€ 123,557.22).

Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master Paintings bei Sothebys in Olympia erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pieter Thijs erzielen.
