Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Angel Appearing To Hagar In The Desert Of Beersheba by Pieter Lastman was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2001. The price achieved of GBP 69,750.00 (€ 113,582.84) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pieter Lastman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sacrifice Of Manoah, which sold at auction in January 2011 for USD 410,500.00 (€ 299,307.33).
