Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work An interior scene with a woman playing a lute and a man playing a violin by Pieter de Hooch was auctioned at Christies in London in May this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 119,700.00 (€ 112,352.17). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter de Hooch achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Interior With A Child Feeding A Parrot in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 3,666,500.00 (€ 2,808,932.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit An interior scene with a woman playing a lute and a man playing a violin von Pieter de Hooch im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 119.700,00 (€ 112.352,17) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pieter de Hooch erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Interior With A Child Feeding A Parrot im Januar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.666.500,00 (€ 2.808.932,81).
