This artwork by Pierre Paulus du Châtelet achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2007. In the Works of Art from the Collection of S.A.R. La Principessa Reale Maria Gabriella di Savoia auction, the work Le Fer sold for GBP 384.00 (€ 569.84) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 200.00. This high result makes Le Fer the most expensive artwork by Pierre Paulus du Châtelet that we have observed at auctions so far.
