Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Pierre-Paul Prud'Hon achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2019. In the Old Master Prints auction, the work Phrosine et Mélidore sold for GBP 3,125.00 (€ 3,693.38) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pierre-Paul Prud'Hon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Madame Péan De Saint-Gilles in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 456,000.00 (€ 350,823.20).
