A top price for Pierre-Paul Prud'Hon - as previously expected
In January 2007 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings and European Works of Art, which included the work Portrait Of Madame Péan De Saint-Gilles by Pierre-Paul Prud'Hon. The price achieved of USD 456,000.00 (€ 350,823.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Portrait Of Madame Péan De Saint-Gilles is the most expensive artwork by Pierre-Paul Prud'Hon that we have observed at auctions so far.
